With the water temperature at 22 to 24 degrees the FLATHEAD have really become active. After a slow start to the season they are now taking plastics and lures readily. For those not yet converted to fishing with plastics, a piece of Mullet Fillet or Pilchard drifted along the channels will get you a nice feed of Flatties.

WHITING are around in big numbers this year and are mostly being taken with live worms, which we have for sale on a continuous basis. Surface poppers used in the shallows are also a fun way to catch these great little fighters.

The big BREAM are proving hard to catch. The crystal clear warm water, along with the extra boat traffic has the bigger BREAM hiding in the oyster leases or in the deeper water. Fishing into the leases between the racks will be the most productive way to catch yourself a bigger fish.

Wallis Lake is full of BLACK FISH (LUDERICK) at the moment and are being caught in big numbers by those targeting them. This is rather strange given the high water temperature as they are normally a winter fish.

BLUE SWIMMER and MUD CRABS are plentiful and will only increase in the coming weeks.

The school JEWIES seem to have left the Lake and are being taken quite regularly off the beaches using pilchards or live worms as bait. Big 20 kg plus JEWIES are also about but are mostly caught along the breakwall using live mullet or large soft plastics.

COME AND VISIT US AT BLUE PETER BOATSHED, WALLIS LAKE FOR A GREAT FISHING EXPERIENCE!
