Well we certainly have had a cool, wet start to Summer. With the different weather pattern so has the Fishing been a little different.
The WHITING are around in huge numbers this year but so far are only taking bait. As the water temperature rises they will start attacking the surface poppers and small hard bodied lures; great fun!
With the rain water flushing down the rivers the FLATHEAD has moved to the lower reaches of the Lake in big numbers. There have been a lot of reports of broken lines as some of the larger fish grab the bait and head into the oyster leases.
If you like a feed of LEATHERJACKETS, a slow trickle of burley fed out along the edges of the oyster leases will bring many of these fish to your boat and hopefully your baited hook.
Other species, BREAM, TREVALLY, FLOUNDER, and TAILOR to name a few are regularly caught in Wallis Lake and make for a nice mixed catch of fish.
If fishing isn’t your choice of activity on the Lake there are many great SWIMMING, SNORKELLING and PICNIC AREAS to enjoy.
We have a comprehensive range of snorkels, aqua shoes, beach toys for the children, etc; as well as our NEW PICNIC HAMPERS, ideal for our boats and kayaks but enjoyed anywhere!!
